For sales teams, every minute spent switching between tools is a minute not spent selling. One of the more practical developments in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Sales is the ability to make and receive phone calls directly within the Sales Hub application without ever leaving the CRM.
What is the Sales Hub Dialer?
The Sales Hub Dialer, currently in preview, is an embedded softphone built natively into Dynamics 365 Sales Hub. It runs on Azure Communication Services, the same enterprise-grade cloud telephony platform behind Dynamics 365 Contact Center. As a result, it brings high-volume reliability to everyday selling.
Key Features of the Dynamics 365 Dialer
1. Click-to-Call from Any Record
Phone numbers inside Dynamics 365 are clickable. From any Lead, Contact, Opportunity, or Account record, sellers can start a call with a single click. This removes manual dialing and eliminates the need to switch between apps.
2. Inbound Call Handling with Automatic Screen Pop
When a customer calls, Dynamics 365 shows a notification no matter where the seller is in the app. If the system recognizes the caller, it automatically links the call to the correct record. This gives the seller full context before the conversation begins.
3. Full Call Controls
During a call, sellers can mute, hold, resume, and transfer calls. They can also add participants directly from the call panel, so everything stays in one place.
4. AI-Powered Conversation Intelligence
Each call includes real-time transcription and sentiment analysis. After the call, the system generates a summary and suggests next-best actions. These insights appear automatically in the record timeline and use Microsoft’s latest language models.
5. Automatic Call Logging
The system logs every call as a Conversation activity and ties it to the relevant record. It also stores transcripts, duration, outcomes, and recordings if enabled. Because of this, sellers spend less time on administrative tasks.
6. Spam Call Detection
Built-in spam detection helps reduce unwanted interruptions. As a result, sellers can stay focused on high-value conversations.
Dynamics 365 Dialer vs. Teams Dialer
Microsoft previously offered a Teams-based dialer for Dynamics 365 Sales. However, the Sales Hub Dialer uses a different architecture. It routes calls through Dynamics 365’s Contact Center voice platform instead of the Teams client.
Because of this change, organizations get improved reliability and call stability. In addition, the new dialer supports advanced features like warm transfers, dedicated service numbers, and native call recording. It also delivers stronger AI capabilities powered by newer language models.
Increasing Sales Productivity
CRM adoption often depends on how much friction sellers face in their daily workflow. When the system logs calls automatically, enriches them with AI, and connects them directly to deal records, sellers spend less time on administrative tasks. Instead, they can focus on conversations that move deals forward.
For organizations already using Dynamics 365 Sales, the Sales Hub Dialer offers a straightforward way to reduce friction and increase the return on an existing investment.
