The Power of Audio Recap in Microsoft Teams

I’ve been blogging recently about simple ways to leverage powerful new AI-driven features in Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Teams, i.e., take advantage of the low-hanging AI fruit that makes your team more efficient while also delivering value to customers. I was introduced to a new one last week, and it blew me away.

The Meeting Follow-Up Challenge

If you’re like many organizations we work with, you’re juggling back-to-back meetings, customer calls, projects, and follow-ups. I’ve already blogged about Teams meeting summaries and transcripts. Read about these time-savers here.

An exciting new addition to the Teams/Copilot feature set is Audio Recaps. And when Teams is used with Microsoft Copilot, this tool becomes a powerful, and dare I say, pleasing way for meeting attendees and other stakeholders to catch up on what happened in the meeting.

What Is Audio Recap in Microsoft Teams?

Audio Recap automatically creates a short, clear audio summary of your meeting—delivered right inside Teams. Instead of replaying an hour-long recording or scanning through transcripts, you listen to a concise, podcast-like audio briefing that highlights:

  • Key discussion points
  • Decisions made
  • Assigned tasks
  • Follow-ups

It’s ideal for people who missed the meeting or attendees who need a refresher on the discussion and follow-ups. You can even send the audio recap to your phone, so you can get caught up while you’re on the go.

How Audio Recap Works

Copilot analyzes meeting content—spoken words, shared files, chat messages—and generates highly contextual recaps that capture nuance, sentiment, and meaning. The recap is delivered as a dialogue between a man and a woman, sounding incredibly natural.

Why Audio Recap Matters

People no longer need to sift through meeting summaries or full transcripts. The audio recap is a convenient way to catch up on meetings in less time. With a recap this easy to digest, teams can skip unnecessary follow-up meetings and focus on execution.

How to Get Started

It’s easy. Ensure your organization has the latest Microsoft Teams environment. Enable meeting recap features and recording/transcription for your Teams meetings. Deploy Microsoft Copilot for Microsoft 365 to unlock advanced AI capabilities. Encourage your teams to test Audio Recap in regular meetings to get a feel for it.
