Microsoft Dynamics 365 does not allow us to import Marketing List Members directly. If you have existing Contacts or Leads you want to add to a marketing list, follow the steps below to add the names to a Microsoft Dynamics 365 Marketing Lists by using Connections.
Get Started
To start we’ll import a connection record for each of our Leads to connect the Lead to the Marketing List in Dynamics 365 for Customer Engagement. The format would look something like the image below- you can use the name, email, or another unique record identifier to connect the lead to the Marketing List. The newsletter in this example is called Newsletter Recipients.
Import the records via the import wizard, mapping these as Connections. Navigate to Settings > Data Management > Imports > Import Data.
In the “Connected From” field, select the record type Lead, and pick Email or the other applicable field to map.
In the “Connected To” field, select the record type Marketing List. Proceed with the import. Note: if this is something you will do regularly it may be worth saving this map.
Now we can use the Connections we imported to locate those Leads and add them to our marketing list via Advanced Find. The query would look like this:
Success!
When we look for our results, we’ll find the Leads we connected with the Marketing List, highlight your Leads then pick the “Add to Marketing List”, pick your list, and they’ll be added!
This is a great workaround using out of the box options to handle Marketing List Members. Now you know how to add new names to a Microsoft Dynamics 365 Marketing Lists using Connections. Feel free to contact us or chat if you need help.
